I've only seen the first season of The Expanse, so this is how my ranking currently looks like:
Battlestar Galactica > Firefly > The Expanse. but I was gifted with Amazon Prime, so I'll check out the rest of The Expanse one of these days. edit: sorry, read past the Star Trek part. Firefly maybe got more praise then it deserved because fandom was still on the Whedon Hype Train. But looking back, the show has serious issues. For one, painting the ex-Confederate soldiers as the underdog heroes has really not aged well. Then youve got the budget problems where every planet looks the same. I mean even the producers said they leaned on the Western theme way too hard because they couldnt afford to do anything else. And its never a good sign when your new shows falls back on your old shows tropes so hard that fandom is trying to put them in the same universe (River is a Slayer.)
And Ive said this before, its just not good SciFi. Serenity basically flies by magic. And until the movie, no one was 100% sure if this show took place in the same solar system or the whole galaxy. The outer planets seem warmer than the inner ones. The science is just appallingly bad. --- END OF LINE ... Copied to Clipboard!
