8 years is usually around the time when you should change a mattress. I just bought a new one last month.

A good quality mattress should last you 20 years. I bought a new tempur pedic a few months before I had a house fire 4 years ago. Thankfully tempur has an awesome in case your shit burned in a house fire return policy so when I did move back into my house a whole year and a half later, they gave me a new one for free. So about 2 years and change old now.
