They're about to enter Swindler's Swamp part of the Hunter's exams. I like the vibe I get from Gon, he reminds me a lot of Kid Goku. Goku was OP right out the gate and Gon seems to be kind of the same way. I don't need to watch the hero start off lame like in Naruto.

Really enjoying it. That one person is a girl, right? They keep calling them a "He". Don't answer that, seems to be a "secret" lol. I don't know what to think about the skateboard kid yet, but he seems to be on the up and up.

Naruto wasn't so weak, he was just inexperienced. The one thing I didn't like was that they made him look too stupid in several parts...such as the fight with Kimmaro and how he just kept throwing clone after clone. He knew how to fight smart but they did stupid crap.

And HxH is great. I need to finish the anime but I've never been past all the way through Chimera Ant arc.

Wish they continued on with teh anime and I think that's what got me stalling.

That's a better way of putting it. I just want the main character to be the main bad ass until they meet their match and have to get better.

That's most shonens tbh. Luffy was also like that for a long time. Seven Deadly Sins also has something similar.
