They have a great story and also stuff carries over from one game to the next. So characters could be killed off permanently depending on your choices. I never played fire emblem but i think banner saga plays like final fantasy tactics. That kind of square level layout and movement of characters around such map. The story has good emotion behind everything. Rpg elements are solid for character skills progression and buying items. Each game takes about 10 hours to complete.
