do any of these "we can't raise the minimum wage because then prices will rise" people have any explanation for why prices rise anyway, even if wages don't? and if we can't raise wages, what's their plan for workers to continue to be able to afford the increased price of things?
such a pretend concern for the economy. they understand nothing beyond an individual level. the workers provide a demand for goods, what happens to that demand (& thus the economy) if they stop being able to afford to buy things? you end up nearly defending capitalism to these people. they don't even get how the system they're defending is supposed to work --- "If you wanna grow your business you need to exploit more." ~Austin_Era_II "Out of those two? I think the idea of the government forcing business owners to deal with a problem of the government is crude at best. The only question is how well the tax side of things works out - this would presumably need some pretty heavy taxes, which in turn is a further disincentive to working. If that can be resolved or isn't actually a problem, a UBI would certianly achieve far more than constant minimum wage increases - which tend to flow on to other costs and make the problem even worse, because while the people on minimum wage might have more money in terms of plain raw numbers, the buying power is the same or even less. --- You haven't set a message board for the signatures yet ... Rather than increasingly the minimum wage, why not just reduce the cost of living?

Rather than increasingly the minimum wage, why not just reduce the cost of living? I mean, same thing, no? When we say we want wages to rise all we mean is we want people to have a higher standard of living; for the average person to have a better life, better material conditions. --- "If you wanna grow your business you need to exploit more." ~Austin_Era_II "Out of those two?
