I'm like 15 min total in and just not feeling it at all. I did flip on the art and music, those are both really swag. But so far the core gameplay is really boring. I save two caterpillars. I need more direction in my games I think. I don't like just being plopped in with no guidance

The gameplay benefits immensely from skill upgrades. I felt the same about the beginning when you can just jump and slash. But after awhile it completely evolves.

Hollow Knight isn't for everyone. If you don't like it you don't like it. Don't sweat it.

You should play it up until you encounter the Mantis Lords. If you don't enjoy that fight you probably won't enjoy the game. The boss fights are what makes the game so special.

its one of the best games of all time, and really opens up once you start picking up new abilities

Do you like other Metroidvanias? It's a good Metriodvania game. But if you don't like the genre then that makes sense that you were not enjoying it.

I did play it for a few hours. And although I see it's potential I'm not sure I'll finish it. The genre itself isn't for me, and I usually skip this type of game as I never enjoy having no guidance, being lost, having to backtrack every time you get a new ability, etc.

People got mad at me for saying FF14 is a terrible MMO. Same people who kept saying it "gets better during the end game! "

I put almost 90 hours into it. It's one of the worst MMOs I've ever played. Really only good if you're already a final fantasy fan and just want to feel like your OC is part of the world.

FWIW, it does improve a lot when you get a couple of the movement abilities.

This game's like Dark Souls where it doesn't outright tell you the story, you just piece it together yourself through conversations with NPCs and the environment.

I had the same experience when I started the game but I persisted for one reason or another, and now it's solidly one of my favourite games of the generation. so yeah.

Dark Souls gives you direction in the form of opening cutscenes. This game does nothing of the sort

The story is largely told through the environments and character interactions. Kind of like Dark Souls.

I think the first thing you should work towards is finding a map. There should be an npc who can give you one.

I made it to The Hollow Knight. I never grew to love the game, personally.

see, this is why this game and games like it are stupid. old bat goes "kill a strong monster hiding at the heart of my lair"

I go thru killing all basic enemies. then i go thru again, and again, can't find another route. then i talk to her again and she's like "good job youre free to go"

wtf. game tells you nothing. there was no hardy beast

The area was a tutorial on the spirit blast ability. The strong monster was the pillbug guy that's invincible without using it.

I had no idea what the game entailed beyond supposedly good boss fights and backtracking. had no idea my progress would be fucked on death

You get everything back if you get back to where you died without dying.
