I did not, my father was pretty adamant about me understanding computers since he was an engineer.

I didn't pay them much mind until my teens and even more so when I left school and had my own PC at home as I've dabbled with upgrading PC parts and trouble fixing. I believe the PS2 BIOS was my first interest when it comes to that sort of thing.

I still don't really understand what a BIOS is.
I guess it's a program that runs on the host at all times? And then you can communicate with it? But does it run at all times or is it just stagnant on some NAND? It handles IO operations? Why couldn't that just be included in the dev kit? I still don't get it. I'm thinking like a PS1 bios. And a kernel too, I still don't get those. http://hitmen.c02.at/files/docs/psx/psx.pdf EDIT: The bios is not loaded in ram at all times, it is just mapped to the CPU registers. That would be a huge waste of 0.5 MB RAM in a computer that only had 2 MB. So it's stagnant on some NAND. --- why am I even here ... Copied to Clipboard!
