Not that it's difficult, though that certainly leads to frustrations on its own, but because of how torturous it is in its difficulty.

Make the platforming really difficult?

Fine, that's great.

Make the levels unreasonably long, requiring much more focused and perfected gameplay to get through them?

I mean, okay, I guess.

Make it so that making a mistake negates any progress you've made and you have to literally start over, which may mean having to complete 10 minutes of gameplay you have no issue with just to get to the problem part and then immediately fail again? Oh, and also, the loading times for restarting a level are fucking obnoxious!

What the fuck are you even talking about, fuck you!

Oh, and also there's a couple of boxes out of the hundreds you're supposed to find that are hidden off-screen, meaning you basically have to use a guide or spend insane amounts of time exploring the levels rather than gitting gud at them.

Fuck the fuck off you fuck.

Oh and we changed time trials so you have to keep pressing the spin button over and over again in these mentioned long as fuck levels, have fun with your finger cramps.

...

Also we have one-way sections where you you ride a vehicle with intentionally shitty controls.

I've never gotten the hype for crash games or him as a character. Spyro was much better.

Ah. I'm gonna make sure I have a PS5 before I play. Can't stand that in games where you're expected to die a lot. It should be top of the fuckin list of things to work on. No one wants to wait with their frustrations for 15+ seconds to try the same shit again and again. All that loading time is just extending the time you're frustrated before you actually beat it and get to a point of enjoyment again. It's different when you're waiting at a load screen after a scene to think about or an awesome part of a game to reflect on.

yeah, it's not very good, and the art is too kiddy. toys for bob weren't the right ones for the job, they should stick to spyro

Sony doesn't have anything to do with that (which is why it's also on Xbox). That would be an Activision decision.

They're likely gonna release a Switch and PC version later.

Because Spyro could talk. A silent protagonist can only go so far. Link is an exception because he's always had a village or kingdom that built the world he's in for him.

No, I never liked crash because he's an idiot but wasn't the fun kind.
A fun idiot is someone like Homer Simpson, he does dumb things but you can tell he's trying.
An unfunny idiot is someone like Peter Griffin.

The gameplay itself was always awful to try and learn coming of off Mario 64, Conker's bad fur day, DK64, and Banjo & Kazooie. The lack of camera controls, the lack of good depth perception, and the "run towards the screen blind and memorize the map while you die a bunch in this timed level" wasn't fun when I was a kid and it's not fun now.

They really went out of their way to make box collection almost impossible in Crash 4. Some boxes are so frustratingly placed that I just dont even bother anymore.

like, if there wasnt a box counter nobody would have any complaints about the game. It all revolves around getting 100% is tedious

I wonder what the logic behind this is because it seems like a universal complaint.

Did they think that's what the hardcore Crash community wanted? Did they want to claim that the game has lots of content since the previous releases contained several games worth of content?

These were all rather easy pitfalls to avoid. I've always enjoyed how overall simple and quick Crash was with collecting. Mostly straightforward with a few warps and gem paths being required.

with you tc. I 100%d, including platinum relics, all 3 of the N Sane Trilogy in preparation for the 4th, and 3 levels in I realized I had no interest in finishing

kinda bad logic. if you throw out getting 100% and focus on beating the game you only have about 5 hours worth of game. 60 dollars for 5 hours of play? thats not worth 60 dollars

so of course people are gonna try and get the extra stuff, and see how the flaws come into play

I could never stand PlayStation platformers since I had an n64 as well.

Playstation was for rpgs, n64 for action games.

Never got into crash or Spyro because of that, tried them both at friends houses and found them disappointing.
