for me, 20 minutes ago. caught a fish. yeah, that's right. I caught a fish. and you know what else? I also watered my flowers, I hit all my rocks, I dug up all my fossils, I helped wisp, I planted a money tree, and I saw a beautiful aurora borealis. and I'll do it all again tomorrow because that's animal crossing baby.

I know it's a dog eat dog world, but sometimes you can just kick back, relax and help a duck get their sweater back from a goat. and you know what? that's okay.

I played the first one on the GameCube, but it wasn't what I was looking for at the time, so I didn't play much of it.

Earlier today. I had let my island get out of hand with flowers overgrowing everywhere for most of 2020, but recently I pulled all the flowers and started sprucing up the island with paths and fencing, giving some neighbors gardens and replanting flowers in controlled spots.

It's really re-energized my interest in the game because previously I was just hopping in for a few daily errands and then save and quit. Now I've been trying to do more to get a 5-star rating (I had a 4-star when my island was overgrown, but it dropped to a 3-star after purging all the flowers) and get my neighbors' photos.

i'd definitely recommend giving it a re-visit. if you couldn't appreciate it in your teenage years, I'm sure you definitely could now having a job and responsibilities. it's a great way to de-stress.

taking it a day at a time is how I like to play animal crossing nowadays. I used to try to accomplish as much as I could with time travel, but to be completely honest, with all of Nintendo's shortcomings and everything, the way they intended AC to be played taking it slow is really where it's at. we've all got speedrunner minds, but with some games you gotta take it slow to fully appreciate the art.

sure. they're not super dopamine rush games but they have their place. so nice to just relax and catch a fish or some shit every once in a while. NH is a very beautiful game as well.

i had new leaf and only played it a little bit. in fact, I sank a shit ton of hours into the first animal crossing when I was just 10 or 11 or so. really kept me occupied, and the later ones I never got into. had city folk as well. but this newest one really captivated me.

I feel like nintendo progresses super slowly. in graphics, innovation and quality of life changes in their games. but when they get about 10 years along in their IP's, that's when the real positive changes start to happen. so I've got a new love for ac for sure.

Like a week after it came out. I really liked the Gamecube one as a kid but never got any of the other ones, and trying NH I was just not into it.

I currently don't own any Nintendo consoles, but if I ever get a Switch, I might check it out.
