every time I played, I got lost in the apartment complex. It is slow and cumbersome controls coupled with an easy get lost in map layout.

Just open that map every two seconds like I do. Check every single door to fill out the map. Most areas are just a few stretches of hallways with multiple floors with similar layouts. Only time it's not really like that is when it's trying to disorientate you.

Stick with it. You got this. I want to say you can switch it to 2D mode in the options if you want to be able to turn on a dime. Maybe that will help with the controls at least.

i used to get lost too but its so easy to memorize once you realize it.

immediately run to the 2nd floor hallway, go to 205 get flash run to 3rd floor. Grab gun from shopping cart and trigger key cutscene. Then the game kinda points out where to go from there

Howd you get lost its pretty simple to understand map. Even at 12 years old i understood it. CLASSIC

It's one of my favorite games ever. However, it does default to tank controls which people get disorientated easily with if they aren't used to it. Plus, the areas are more "real" than something like classic RE. Often lacking in landmarks compared to RE.
