This is kinda my thought, because my delivery driver would be delivering by his own choice, not because he's employed by the restaurant or something

My guess is that it might take longer to connect me to a driver maybe? Would have to give them a big tip

It's weird though because they are choosing to be out delivering food anyways, right? Like it's not like I'm ordering, and they're at home, and then they get a notification that forces them out into the snow

it's just that they wouldn't be out making money and putting themselves/others at risk if people were just chilling at home & cooking for themselves

They would be though, that's the point. Let's say no one orders door dash today. They don't necessarilly know that no one is ordering door dash today so they're still out in their cars in the snow hoping for an order

Yeah, and maybe your place of business should have shut down or something.

But in this case these people aren't employed by the restaurant, they are contracting with Door dash. They are choosing their shift to be right now, instead of staying home. They set their own schedule unlike you (i assume)

How do you know they were chilling at home when they got the notification? Did they tell you?

Even if they were, they choose when to turn the app on and set their availability to on or off

I used to deliver, didn't care what the weather was like. Bad weather usually meant better tips.
