I don't own one and never considered buying one. If I have tea I just let hot water run through the Keurig without a pod.

i seriously can't tell with america

Im American. I know people who use the kettle and swear by it. I dont drink tea all too often, so I just throw a cup of water in the microwave and do it that way.

They're gaining popularity but air fryers are stealing their thunder

I'm looking at getting an Air Fryer in the near future. I wouldn't mind the electric kettle either but I don't have to boil water all that often though.

Have a nice glass kettle at the office.
Gotta use filtered water, though. The tap water in my town is.. crummy, to say the least.

American tea has ice in it and slightly more sugar than can be dissolved in the water. Electric Kettles don't help with that.

Don't generalize.
Depends on the region of the US whether tea on average is served hot or cold.

I also had a 5 gallon water cooler in the kitchen with a hot and cold option and that was ideal for instant hot water, but the cat figured out how to paw the cold side and I got tired of puddles on the kitchen floor so I got rid of it.

Just use a coffee machine with no filter in it for the same effect.

I know a lot of people that either do this or just use the microwave. Practically everyone has one of those things, buying an extra device like an electric kettle is therefore unnecessary.

There are converts but growing up around people who brew tea plays a major role.

Lots of cultures though just brew tea for illness. Mentioning which was sassafras ever cultivated? Or is the usefulness merely fortuitous?

I loved mine, and I hate that I had to get rid of it. I wish they made one that has the same child safety lever on both sides instead of just the hot side.

My parents have one that locks both electronically with a button. They found it on Amazon I think. Also the tank is on the underside which is legit.

I'll look into it because both of those features sound great. Mine was the old flip it upside down while saying oh shit as you spill half a gallon during the process kind.

I have a saucepan and a stove

This I dont care for tea. So why have a kettle? If I have company over and they want tea i can make it that way.

Wonder what the UK would think of bojangles tea. Something the fast food chain is known for. They just fill a 5 gallon plastic container about 1/5 of the way with boiling water throw the tea in let it steep 15 minutes. Throw in two scoops of ice and fill it the rest of the way with cold water. Add sugar if its sweet tea and stir
