How would they make it illegal? They cant bar thousands of people from randomly investing in a stock. Nor identity their reason for doing so to ban them in the first place.

Stocks are all about risk and these are all adults here.

i'll almost never side with a company/brand over people

companies can go fuck themselves for what theyve done and idc if a company goes bankrupt so a couple thousand people can earn a couple grand

when companies start investing in the trickle-up theory, then i'll shed a tear for a company doing poorly

No, stock performance has nothing inherently to do with the performance of the actual company.

And there's nothing really inherently amoral about shorting stocks. I do think shorting stocks on margin should be illegal, especially for large institutions. It's extremely reckless

Until they really put a limit on it, fuck it. But as soon as they do itll become such a bigger issue. This is honestly a no win situation.

But shorts in general are fine. They are used for hedging risk too.
