It survived my attempts to just drown it. Now it seems to be in shock/exhausted, because it let me nab it in a shallow tupperware bin pretty easily.

I could just do it more easily now, but now I feel bad after it succeeded evading the reaper the first time. So now I have no idea what to do with it.

No, I was performing pest control, and it survived.

It's -1 outside and the mouse is still wet. So in that case, I might as well just go back to drowning him.

Is it a sticky trap? You can just throw it in the woods and throw some cooking oil on it. It'll get unstuck

Or just shoot it if you have a pellet or bb gun. Aim for right below the ears on the neck

You can put it in the freezer but that's borderline inhumane. They subcome to cold really fast if they're immobile. You can crush it if you can guarantee to be swift...it's just messy and weird.

Just don't drown the thing. That's horrible and I've had to catch and kill hundreds of mice.

Well in that case i don't know what to tell you. The mouse is already scarred in its mind between the pest control failing and you trying to drown it. An animal being stuck outdoors in the cold sucks, but what other option is left besides letting it run free indoors again

My thoughts exactly. When I worked in a kitchen, we were trained to get rid of the mice by killing them. Just letting them outside the door would just be a free pass for them to find there way in again.

Alright, choice made. I have it in a plastic bin with a lid that has holes. I threw some shredded toilet paper and cotton balls to make it comfy/help dry it up. Tomorrow I'll take it out to the dumpster. Plenty of garbage bags to hide in and eat out of.

if it's a deer mouse, you should either kill it or take it really far away and release it where it won't come back. those can spread hantavirus
