Im fine with FPS games but i have major problems with restrictive controls. The movement controls in GTA5 and RDR2 is really annoying to me. And its the same with RE7, your first person view felt floaty and you move way too slow even when held down run button. Gun play is also very weak.

After watching RE8, it seems like its the exact same. A walking simulator with puzzles and scripted cutscene/events. But its 95%+ thumbs up on youtube. I guess its just me that doesnt like it.

The reason RE7 was like that, I believe, is because it was also coded for VR.

I liked RE7 but I agree on your two main points.

Combat should have been meatier and more impactful. Pistol felt like a BB gun-lite, shotgun felt like a sawnoff rifle, and the sounds lacked any punch. Even RE4 feels meatier to fight enemies in.

Also agreed on the float-y. It gave me a headache and felt like my head was suspended in water. I believe this was to prep it for Sony VR as the above poster said, though. No way around it.

My only real issue with RE7 was the lack of enemy diversity and RE8 looks to be an improvement there so I'm looking forward to it. Disappointed that VR doesn't seem to be a thing anymore though.

i feel the same way, but people argue with me until my bones are dust. i can't just simply explain how something feels, it's tactile, it needs lots of different things to be compared to. but yeah, if it hasn't gotten some major improvements, i'm just waiting for the rumored Rev3

From what I remember RE8 was retooled from Rev3 and the other game being developed is the RE4 Remake.

yes the movement controls and responsiveness is very important and too many devs overlook it. Breath of the wild feels great to play because link movement is very responsive. You hit jump and he jumps, tilt stick and he moves, let go and he stops.

RDR2, you tilt stick you have to wait for the character to animate and build up momentum to his full walking speed. Arthur takes massive semi circles when you try to make him turn sharp angles or do 180.

And in persona 5, there is kinda of an input delay to the character control. It feels so weird that i had to come on here to talk about it and a user told me to imagine that you are dragging the character around and that made my head wrap around it better til i was able to get used to it.

Metro: Exodus was another example of an otherwise pretty cool game that was devastated by its clunky, archaic movement. it felt like you were actually playing as the flat, square hitbox around your character, and not your character himself. you got snagged on things, aiming was stiff, jumping and vaulting was jittery, it was big points off. one reviewer said it was like you were a fridge on skis, lol

Theres that same flowers and vase thats in RE2 + RE3 remake as well as RE7. They couldnt even redesign one item because this particular vase sticks out and even streamers talk about seeing it again and again between games.
