Because I told him I wouldn't work for a place that demanded on call

and I got told I'm incapable of seeing a good future and my job is going to be cut since the schools don't need a sysadmin if everyone is working from home to teach the kids who are also at home

Should have told the recruiter that websites and social media are about to get rid of his job and that in the future nobody is going to want to pay people to find workers when they can just post a message and reach thousands of applicants.

As IT, you pretty much have to be on call. Thats part of the job.

Yeah I had a recruiter basically belittle me for not going for a lateral move job I didn't want to do and I told them that. It was weird to have them do that but you just move on to another.

the closest I've had is if one of the hot teachers emails me I might respond if I see it

You must be at a small organization then, or a lower level sys admin.

As someone that works in IT - OnCall is a necessary evil V_V. But it also depends on how it is being used, and is the oncall policy reasonable.

Sometimes job advertisements on a website can be from a recruiter and they'll be the liaison between you and the company. Basically so the only thing the company needs to bother with are the interviews.

There are also recruiters who try and help people find work.

Was the same in my other jobs
I only work 9-5 and either the business was small enough with about 80 people and just me or it was 24/7 global with 24/7 coverage by teams worldwide
