Have we spent near enough resources trying to construct a device that does the opposite?

Why are we such a self-destructive species?

I've given this quite a bit of thought.

Considering that humans have invented many, many things that aren't designed to kill or destroy, it should be a testament to human's creative power.

You are focusing on things like bombs and guns but what about water purification or energy generation. Things like vaccines and antibacteral soap and sanitizer.

These are not the inventions of a species that entirely wants to destroy itself.

To live is to die. To survive is to kill. To be human is to destroy. It's your undeniable nature. For humanity to survive, they had to kill anything. In modern society, it's no longer as neccesary for survival and yet...

To be human is to slaughter. This is what my master told me about your kind.

This is what we(USA) spent on health in 2020, during a global pandemic:
$87.1 billion

This is what we(USA) spent on defense in 2020, during a global pandemic:
$721.5 billion

I think we have things backwards.

I still think you are still missing the point all together. I'm not saying you are wrong. Even if we are currently on a path of self destruction, that doesn't mean that it is total. Self preservation measures still exist.

The problem with the genesis device is that it kills just as easily as it creates. Didnt you watch the historical documents?

I think you gotta check your numbers. The U.S. government spends well over $1 trillion on healthcare each year.

I think you need to check the breakdown on what that 1 trillion was spent on. Mainly, separate all the funding meant to maintain America's economy from the funding actually used on eradicating the virus.

I'm not saying that governments shouldn't assist those who are experiencing financial hardship during this pandemic, but lets not conflate the two.

Not even talking about the stimulus, actually. Healthcare is part of the mandatory budget, which makes up the largest portion of government spending. Military spending falls under the much smaller discretionary budget:

https://www.thebalance.com/current-federal-mandatory-spending-3305772

That being said I agree that we could shift some defense spending to healthcare, but even 100% of the current defense budget would only barely equal what we pay for medicare alone (roughly $722 billion).

While Elon Musk launches billions of dollars of government paid for rockets into space, Americans are begging for $2000 one time stimulus check to help them through a global pandemic.

We seriously have things backwards.

I'm saying elon musk got his government funding well before the pandemic while American suffer throughout 2020. No fault of Elon but definitely all the blame goes on Trump, his incompetence and all those who overtly and covertly support him.

What are you talking about? His link shows we're projected to spend over $1 trillion on Medicare and Medicaid combined alone, which doesn't even account for all our health care spending. You said we spent about $87 billion.

Are you drunk?

Hard fact is that bringing death is more useful than protecting life. If you're good enough at death, you can eliminate those you don't like, threaten others to obey you, protect yourself from external forces, hunt to provide food, & generally do what you want because no one will dare challenge you. The immediate value of saving people isn't nearly as prominent.

You're saying that part of the $1 trillion used for Medicare and Medicaid was used for upkeep of the economy? Where in the article does it say that? Besides generating healthcare related jobs (which the funding toward those programs always does) I don't see how it would be stimulating the economy.

We'll probably never know because there simply isn't that kind of funding put into preventative medicine.
