Why is the Javelin might so damn low? I didn't expect it to be high but I didn't expect it to do less damage than a damn TRAINING BOW. There are so few scenarios where I would use a Javelin over a Training Bow. The flexibility isn't worth it, especially when I get later in the game. That low might with that 8 weight is absurd. 4 less might than an Iron Lance but weighs 2 more. So dumb. I feel like it had to be nerfed for Maddening or something.

Another question. On the Fog of War map with Catherine... How are the enemies programed to move? Do they move regardless or do they move when you get in range? I'm trying to come up with a strategy to win this map. I have a few things in mind but knowing this info might really help here.

The franchise as a whole struggles to balance 1-2 range weapons. In most games, Axes and Lances wildly outclassed Swords and Bows entirely because the former had easy affordable access to good 1-2 range weapons. The response this is seemingly to render the lances and hand-axes useless by making them extremely heavy and/or inaccurate. On it's own that isn't terrible, but between everyone having access to every weapon and the increased Player Phase focus of 3H, bows largely out-place the need for Javelins/Hand Axes. And once you have dedicated Enemy Phase units, you'll also have the Retribution Gambit to make 1-2 range irrelevant.

I beat the Fog of War map. It wasnt difficult once I abused the forest. No way I could keep the npcs alive though. They kept rushing to their deaths. I prolonged at as much as possible by I couldnt stop them from dying to the boss. I could have saved them if Catherine actually tried to engage the boss. That would have been too easy though

Also, story wise, this chapter felt like a turning point for Dimitris character for the worse. Based on the other paths, he has no problem killing civilians or anyone who gets in his way. Here though, he is very angry he had to kill civilians and I think this will be an excuse for him to kill civilians in the future. As long as its for his cause.

Honestly, it isn't bad to pick up if you are already doing the Armor certification for the Defense boost. But probably not worth it otherwise. The +3 speed probably isn't causing units who would otherwise not double to double more enemies nor is it stopping units would be be doubled from not being doubled.

It's worth more for average speeders; fast folk will double-turn regardless.

imo your best use for spare training is going to be Horses if you can reach A rank, Flying if you're going for a dodge tank, and else Leadership for a stronger battalion and its perks

Wait a second... Rally.. If a unit can cast multiple different types of Rally... You cast all of them at once? Like if you have Rally Strength and Rally Resistance... and you cast it on a unit you get both at once? If so.. THAT IS OP! If that is really how it works... I have greatly underestimated how powerful Rally was in this game

Indeed! So units who have that as an innate ability like Anne or Alois can seek out Rally skills gained from Leadership and just cheer for all they're worth (and probably lag in levels as a result)

Annette is an early game star and a top class assistant for other classes even if she doesn't see a round of combat for her rally abilities. Rally Speed + Strength is great.

I might have asked this before but I dont remember the answer. Ive unlocked the Statues that take Renown. What should I prioritize? Thing like Flying/Riding +2? All Exp boosts? Divine Pulses? Something else? Im honestly not sure

Priority 1 is Class Mastery Bonus from the Cethleann statue. That cuts your time to master a class in half. Which means faster Death/Fiendish/Darting Blow and Hit+20.

That is worth much more than any other bonus.

Maxing out the statues is largely a waste. It is +5 to the caps, not +5 to the stats. The base caps are already so high that nobody is touching them so increasing them I'd meaningless. I don't know what they were thinking there.

Oh it's caps. Yea.. That is completely useless. I misread that. Thanks. I don't know what I'll do once I get the pulses. I guess I'll go for all the 10% Exp bumps since that would be the most important.

I got weight -3 for Felix. I wonder how much it will help. I noticed that weight -3 means that a Silver Sword would have the same weight as an Iron Sword. A Wo Dao would have less weight than a Training Sword. Even a Killing Edge will weigh less than a Silver Sword. Being able to double more consistently with powerful weapons should be great. Even a Steel Sword should be far more useful for me currently

So weight -3 only matters if they are otherwise losing speed on a weapon. Felix has one of the better strength growths in the games and gauntlets are light so it doesn't do him a ton of good.

I had no idea that is how that worked. Im sure someone mentioned it before and I forgot. So weapon weight isnt as big of a deal as I thought. I guess Weight -3 is probably really strong in the early game but can be dropped in the late game

Pretty much, high enemy speed combined with C investment in a skill tree with little other practical uses and competition for a units 5 skill slots means that it generally isn't worth going out of your way for Weight -3 unless you already have to be close to it anyway.

The Speed +2 from mastering Myrmidon is probably better than Weight-3 because it works even if your strength offsets the weight of the weapon. It will still give you a boon, whereas weight-3 won't do anything if you aren't weighted down by weapons and equipment, and it only requires mastering a minor class you possibly aren't even going out of your way to get, as opposed to dedicating class or combat exp to a pretty bad higher tier of classes.

Not particularly. Felix is an player phase unit who gets most of his kills by using FIF or brave weapons. Generally speaking he is going to double for non speed reasons and not be counter-attacked. You can keep the shield on him and just unequip it when you run into an enemy that you need the speed the double/not be doubled.

OK. I started the next map and Im already annoyed. First off, which really isnt annoying, I had to restart the map because I never had battalions equipped to Ingrid and Ashe lol. I just forgot to do it. Now to what annoyed me.

  1. Gilbert cant Tank shit. My lord. You are a fortress knight. Why cant you tank damage in any significant way? I knew Magic would be a problem but not normal attacks.
  2. Since Gilbert cant tank anything, I will have to leave some units behind to protect him. I thought I might get away with just healing him with Psychic. LOL nope
  3. Ambush spawns. OK, here is what pisses me off about this. I heard going into Maddening that ambush spawns exist and they move on the same turn. However, up until this point, enemies spawned but didnt move on the same turn. So I assumed they patched it or something. I was surprised but happy. Now this map has the ambush spawns I was expecting. What? Will the game randomly sprinkle in ambush spawns that have enemies move on the same turn while others dont? Why isnt it consistent? That is so stupid. I wont be able to plan off of memory on how the enemy will move when they spawn because of this. Im going to lose it if this inconsistency happens within the same map

Forget about Gilbert. Him getting defeated changes nothing.

Beyond that, yes same turn reinforcement are the worst, but hey, at least you have divine pulses and don't need to redo entire chapters

Wait- So removing ALL the shields away stuns the monsters for an entire turn?! I had no
idea that was a feature! I knew they wouldnt counter attack when I did that but I didnt know they didnt attack on their enemy phase!
