IIRC arent a bunch of the visuals drawn from it? Like for example I think Kimba sees his dead father in the sky as well.

I'm inclined to agree since the names are so similar. I think she maybe played a Kimba episode in class once but I dont really remember it too well

If there was anything ripped off it was in some visual elements, maybe. The stories are absolutely nothing alike in any real way and the Tezuka family doesn't even think it was ripped off.

Pretty sure disney got sued and the people behind Kimba won so yeah TLK was a rip off and the courts clearly agreed.

they're insanely different and people just cherry-pick random scenes from random pieces of kimba animation taken out of context and made out to be more similar to the lion king than they actually are
the people who make the argument are being incredibly dishonest about it
stuff sharing cinematic language isn't enough to make things a rip off, and there's always a chance that something is just done the same way out of coincidence

this video's super long but it's very well researched and absolutely shows that it's not the rip off people claim it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5B1mIfQuo4

No, it's stealing from the little guy and throwing all your resources behind it to crush them as competitors. Pretty much the origin of all huge companies.

Because they're both animations and both feature young lions, OF COURSE one ripped off the other.

Just like how George Lucas ripped off Star Trek to create Star Wars.

Nah, it's still pretty legit. Even Mokoto Tezuka thinks it's only coincidental, and that the themes and stories of the two are completely different. Similar scenes isn't really enough to be outright plagiarism.

I've seen the long video illuminious posted. They're nothing alike, kimba the white lion is a long animated series with very different themes (and is very very weird). most of the clips people use to show the similiarities came from the movie that was released after the lion king. The scar character in kimba is basically a minor villain that has a handful of appearances.

People should really watch YMS' fantastic video about Kimba the White Lion. Not only is it super well researched, but it also completely destroys the "Lion King ripped off Kimba" narrative. Granted, it's two hours and thirty minutes long, but it's definitely worth the watch.

The biggest issue is Disney boasts TLK as a highly original creation. It's not. They should just simply give props to the people who inspired them. It really is that simple.

That's actually all they want. They just want to hear some recognition from Disney that Kimba inspired TLK.

Did it inspire them though? This seem like it's more of a case of just two things having aspects that are similar (one being from a single movie and the other being from an entire franchise, including entries that came after the aforementioned single movie) by coincidence.
TLK seems to take more inspiration from Shakespeare which Disney has always been pretty open about.

by coincidence
I HIGHLY doubt that. With all the writers and artists behind TLK, one or two(or more) must have known something about Kimba as Kimba was one of the most well known creations in Japan. To go on so far nonchalant without anyone every saying "Hey this looks like it's from Kimba" is just not believable.

Not only that but beta versions of Simba was White(like Kimba). But hey, that's just my opinion. Feel free to think they are completely separate from each other.
