im mixed on the one hand fuck monopolies and MS does alot of BS with this

For something like an OS it's natural for a monopoly to rise.
Creating a full kernel and then an OS on top of it is no small feat and requires massive amounts of time and funding. That being said, it would be nice to see maybe something like government grants get doled out in the aims of funding alternative development.
