The quality significantly declines for every season after s04. It's not very strange considering that the writers are hacks who hadn't ever done a TV series before, so when they ran out of written material, they did what they could and wrote a huge turd

Honestly, they didn't even run out of material. They just kind of decided that they didn't like books 4 and 5, so they just skipped over almost everything that happens in those books. I mean, season 3 ends halfway through book 3, and season 4 is mostly the second half of that book. So all that they ran out of material stuff is mostly bs.

But to be fair, a lot of other people didn't like books 4 and 5 very much either. I enjoyed them, not as much as the first 3, but they were still good enough to make like 3 seasons out of instead of barely one season covering both books. But I also read them all together, I didn't have to wait years for those last two to come out like other people who started with the first 3.

Nah, they started diverging probably for several reasons. One being that they knew they would overtake the books. Another being that the amount of threads in the book just don't translate to TV. The decision to cut out characters and plots wasn't necessarily wrong, it's just that they did a shit job of it

First 4 seasons are GOAT television. Quality drops a little after that. The last two seasons are noticeably worse than the rest, but still good by entertainment industry standards.

Those can be good if you actually build to it. lil sis stealing the only thing Jons story was building too though? Thats bad writing, hell you could delete him and the wall from the entire story and nothing would change

it was George RR Martins idea, the author of the books and architect of the series. I have no doubt that he can deliver those plot points in the books in a satisfying way that is coherently built up over time and makes complete sense since hes an amazing author and the books are infinitely better than the show, but Im losing faith that the lazy fuck will ever even complete the books. its been almost 11 years since he published the last book (which covered all the way to the end of season 5 of the show) and he doesnt seem anywhere close to finishing the next one. I feel like hes close to giving up on the series.

I'm pretty confident that I would hate those plot points no matter how much they were built up ahead of time. If Martin plans for the series to end more or less that way, then maybe it's for the best that we'll never actually get that ending.
