I left my last job because I was overqualified (it was a web agency) and also b/c I failed a big project. They even gave me employee of the month lol...

I'm probably going to leave my current job b/c I hate my coworkers. My boss is like oh I love collaboration but is probably the least collaborative atmosphere I've ever worked in. And I want a prestige and pay bump from FAANG ideally.

Worked in a very disorganized warehouse with a sitdown forklift. Basically have to load pallet of boxes inside a truck container. Problem was you have to drive around the entire warehouse to find the right store/pallet number it belongs to which was a pain in the ass to find. All of them wont be in the same location which you got to look around more for the rest of the pallets. Got pressured by my boss to hurry and im taking long. Even takes longerwith a propane tank forklift.

I got fed up getting yelled at especially doing my job right and quit. Cant stand being pressured to meet the goals from my boss, main manager and the truckdrivers that want to leave badly wanting you to get it done already. Helltruck drivers make it worse when the people working on the pallets are doing it at the last minute. Worse ofall is especially getting even more yelled at if you did a mistake.

Used to work in a warehouse. The workload was way too much, too much for one person. Used to be assigned things that were not my job. I had five different bosses that wanted me to prioritize their tasks, and if I didn't respond to emails they would come up to my room and ask why XYZ wasn't done. Pay was shit. $15.30/hour. One day I had enough and decided to put my two week notice in. Didn't have a job lined up or anything. They didn't try to save me or anything, they just let me leave. I probably wasn't the most valued employee, I understand that I was expendable but I wish they would have showed some appreciation.

Ill do all of my jobs. Company name withheld

First one was in sales.
It was a MLM commission based and it was like a cult. Long hours, 12PM-11PM M-F and S 8AM-6PM

Second was a shipping company.
I failed my 2 week evaluation and failed it because at the time I was too out of shape to unload the trucks.

Third was an office job I was at for more than 6 years.
There was a span of 2 months where a lot of high quality upper management left. Toxic work environment, office drama, it was one of those situations where the boss would make you so miserable that you quit instead of getting fired.

Fourth was a logistics office job.
First my supervisor resigned. He was a really chill guy, but the top of the food chain treated him like crap. He warned me of all the stuff they did to him, they might do to me. Then the general manager got fired and they replaced him with some guy who had zero experience in the industry. To sum it up, this guy made my life miserable. Ive had hundreds of co workers, and he was easily the worst of all of them. Him along with the VP of the company pretty much made working there hell. I even ended up quitting without having anything lined up.

Fifth was in retail.
Unpredictable hours and schedule.
One week Im doing 24 hours. The next 4. The next 40.
I would work 9 days in a row, 1 day off, 4 days in a row, 8 days off.
6PM to 2AM shifts were dreadful. I dont even know why I had so many of those shifts when I clearly stated on my first day that I dont do overnights.

I didn't really "quit" it was just a seasonal election job and then the election ended.

Before that I was working for Panera Bread but that was just while I was working on my Masters Degree.

Last job I quit was 8 years ago It was a temp job and I knew 4 hours into the shift I wasn't coming back but I had to do the fl shift which ended up being 11 hours. Was some warehouse job.

Prior to that I worked nights at a grocery store after 2 years I just couldn't stand it and quit over the phone.

Why did you even go back for the second rodeo?
I applied as a joke and then got the job. I kid you not.

But i negotiated about 5k more than my current job and immediate (i.e. no probation period) for my benefits. Financially, it was good for me. But with that demanded-extra-unpaid-(illegal)-overtime, it reduced my wage to less than $20/hr. I was at 25/hr or so.

I had been working there for 5+ years and had zero respect despite accomplishing a lot. I was the only person working in my department other than someone who was incompetent, and I was passed up for a promotion; the new manager choosing someone with absolutely no knowledge of or experience in my department, all because they lied to them and took credit for all the work the rest of their own respective department did.

It got to the point where I was effectively doing three separate departments' work on a daily basis, and I was having increasing panic attacks. I had a breakdown at work, left, and never came back.

The last job I quit was working as a phone psychic. Only did it for 3 days. It was the most boring job ever. Sit in a cubicle waiting for the phone to ring. The other workers there were trash (I believe most of them were what we now call methheads) that treated me like crap, taunting me right in front of the boss, who didn't give a shit. I decided I wasn't going back.

Wasn't a job, but an internship.

I was interning at a translation company in a foreign country because my education at the time required me to do that. But man, I hated it. Six months away from my family and friends, way worse living conditions than at home. I got depressed as fuck.

The main project that that translation company worked on was localizing daily updates for some shitty mobile game that was loaded to the brim with microtransactions.

So one weekend, I got absolutely shitfaced and decided it was a smart idea to go to the subreddit of that mobile game and type a massive essay about how the game sucks, how its only goal is to drain as much money as possible from the idiots that play it, and how I hated myself for helping to localize it, but I had no choice because I was an intern.

A few days later, the developers of that mobile game apparently discovered my subreddit post and contacted all of their localization partners to find out who wrote that post. The company I was at was apparently the only one with any interns at the time, so my boss was most displeased for leaking confidential information and kicked me out.

Completing the internship was a requirement for graduating, so I dropped out of college and decided to just take over my family's restaurant instead. In hindsight, I'm glad I did because I'm making way more bank now than I would've ever made being a translator.

I condensed the timeline a bit. I was delivering pizza at the time, my car broke down, so they took me off the schedule. I applied for it a couple of weeks later. I never formally quit or was fired (that I know of), I just applied and got it. I assume they just put me down as having been laid off due to covid since i got approved, and they'd already had to do that for all the servers.

We have a concept here called at-will employment which basically means its fairly easy to terminate people and not have to face wrongful termination (wrongful termination exists but at-will means if a company wants you out, they can just make up some b/s administrative reason to let you go). Companies can use the idea kind of as a sword of Damocles against their employees that they are disposable at a moments notice so people have to stay in line out of fear of reprisal.

I was in a situation where my team was outsourced to a consulting firm. The bizarre part of this was that everyone was asked to interview with the consulting firm, and 75% of us became consultants. Soooo for a year+ I worked as a consultant, but ended up working at the same exact desk doing the exact same tasks before the consulting thing.

Anyways - that contract was ending soon. So my choices were to accept a new assignment, or look for a new full time position. And luckily I found an amazing company to work for and that is where I've been for the last 3-4 years.

Sure we do. Its just that the laws favor employers.
