What's your answer?





This is one of the most difficult math questions that high school teens will see on an american SAT test..and NO CALCULATOR IS ALLOWED either..

let's see if anyone can do it..

I'm pretty sure they chose x>3 instead of an equivalent but more allowing condition so that people felt they couldn't do the perfectly valid but discouraged strategy of setting x to 0 to check answers

That being said, x=4 isn't hard to do, simplifying the equation isn't hard to do, and you can do 1 second of dimensional analysis to immediately get the only possible answer

I feel like I've had 10x more difficult questions in my math class.

Then again you actually need a calculator for tests.

(Also answers C and D being parts of answers A and B already is cutting thinking time in half)
