They are still making money hand over fist from GTA Online. I can't see them releasing another game until that starts to decline. Plus every game is more and more complex in terms of graphics and scale that the players want than the previous so don't underestimate how long it takes to develop these. I always felt GTA games as much a technical showcase as a game.

they'll be "workshopping" GTA 6 until people stop buying GTA 5 and then suddenly GTA 6 will have been in development this whole time and it'll be released next september

With how greedy Take Two's CEO is (he personally makes bank off of microtransactions) and with some of the old guard leaving Rockstar, I feel the future of GTA as we knew it is looking grim.

It's gonna suck anyway, hardly any of the originals at Rockstar are left if any. GTA Online is ok but the prices of vehicles are fucking ridiculous. Either you grind for cash to get what you want or you spend real money to get what you want. Grinding wouldn't be so bad if the missions paid out better, same goes for heists. The latest heist pays about $1 million by doing it solo but the setup takes like an hour, its longer than the actual heist.
