Especially because it's never really explained.....They kinda question how nobody remembers it, and Irvine is like "maybe it's the GFs?" and they all kinda go "sure" and move on. But it's never actually confirmed it's the GFs. Squall was stuck in the time loop after defeating ultimecia and setting things right. For how long, we don't know. Could've been 1000 years. At some point, he either wandered out of it by sheer luck or Rinoa, with Laguna, still having some of her own powers, pulled Squall out of it and found him in a field. I'm leaning on this path simply because his Father is there too.
