Excellent gameplay, beautiful pixel art, and some pretty nice bgm. Surprised this game isnt more well known or popular. I think this is a lot more fun than a lot of other indie darlings like Celeste and The Messenger.

Only real complaint is I wish the last area was more of a big climatic level instead of just an arena to face the final boss. Also not a complaint but I think people made this game out to be harder than it really was. I think it's relatively easy by indirpe game standards even though I was a dumb dumb who overlooked really useful upgrades lol.

I'm surprised it didn't catch on harder, but I do remember a lot of people complaining that it didn't give them a fucking checklist, completely not understanding the level design. One of my favorites, and now there are titles copying the formula, of course.

If you liked this, you'll like Katana ZERO, also. Different genre, similar sword reflex energy.

Why would they need a checklist? And I have Katana Zero I just havent played much yet. Reminds me more of Hotline Miami but a platformer instead of overhead.

That fits. There's this set of genres that really gets in on the cutthroat knife-edge reaction and nigh-instant death set to some variant of psychedelics, and I fucking love Hotline Miami for getting it started (and also being a great game.)

Not too long though I didnt collect everything. Just took me a couple of days to beat. People say it's hard but imo it's not that tough by indie game standards. I died plenty but I never got stuck or even frustrated.
