Not even for X-rays. Those were covered.

So I've been charged $2k to sit around for 3 hours, be given a dose of medicine and be told "Eh your hand will be fine probably. Follow up with a specialist if you want"

Oh god I haven't even gotten a bill from my surgery yet.

God fuck America

My job pays low but the Healthcare insurance is pretty good. The most i could pay out of pocket for a year is 4,000. After that, they cover everything. I thing for meds the most I can pay is 2000 a year before they cover everything but id have to check that.

Dr recommended I get an mri. Not telling me how much it could be, me being naive.

Ended up with a 5000 bill. The shot was 1700 itself.

Laughed at the hospital and ended up paying close to 30 bucks.

Healthcare in this country is quite the racket. A year ago or so I cut my pointer finger on the blade of a blender (blender wasn't on) and debated whether it was worth going to urgent care as blood poured out. It stopped after like two hours of pressure.

So my kid fell and busted his head open and I took him to urgent care thinking they could handle stitches. They kept us for an hour or so and said that it was too deep and referred us to the ER. That didn't stop the urgent care from billing us $500 though. I fucking hate that Urgent care now.

Your tone tells me youre being sarcastic but as a Canadian I can tell ya he would have waited same amount of time. Got the same treatment and paid nothing.

And yes 3hour wait times are about average in my experience. I work in healthcare

urgent care is absolute shit, you wait for 3 hours to finally get a doctor to see you, then they send you to the ER and you're charged thousands.

Haha. I know people here, born and raised Canadians who havent paid out of pocket (aside from prescriptions meds and that kinda thing that isnt covered)

And they adamantly believe its better Americans have a better system than us as long as you have insurance

We do pay for it. Thats what taxes are for, I think the ends far justify the means personally but they definitely dont see it that way.

Selling one is the only way you can afford to pay for an IV in an American hospital.

Biden's healthcare plan is keeping everything exactly as it is now, but offering a public option only to people who qualify for medicaid. Of course, when it comes to congress, they'll compromise even on that already extremely compromised position so the end result will be... nothing will change at all.

Medical billing is often fucked up all over the place. If theyre going to fuck you at least make sure you're getting fucked the proper amount.
