Surely they were, right? Immortal, probably don't need oxygen. Could they fly fast enough to make it meaningful? Seems weird that these super powerful beings would be stuck on earth. Maybe that's where they went.

Probably not. They were capable of space travel in flying chariots, but not near fast enough I believe.
