Out of all of the moves they cut for SwSh's release, they kept one particular move in.

Mega Punch.

It is a normal-type physical move that deals 80 damage with 85% accuracy. A pretty bad move when you consider all of the stronger normal-type moves that exist in pokemon such as Body Slam.

But they not only kept it in the game, they made it a TM. As in a move they expect players to deliberately teach their pokemon. Over the years TMs have gotten a lot of QoL changes: The number of TMs has grown, they're mostly rarer (and stronger) moves that you would want to have on your pokemon, and they're now infinitely usable.

So Mega Punch is a TM. An 80 damage, 85% accurate physical normal-type move with no secondary effect.

You wanna know what normal-type physical move also does 80 damage with no effect, but has 100% accuracy? Strength. The HM that was already infinitely useable and applicable to more pokemon, but is now all but a relic of the past.

But Mega Punch. Fucking Mega Punch somehow deserves to be in this game as a fucking TM.

"But wait!" You may think, being oh-so clever, "The Tough Claws ability give damage boosts to punching moves! So mega punch is more applicable!"

True, but if you look here: https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Tough_Claws_(Ability)

You'll see that both moves are affected by Tough Claws, correlating to Strength being described as a punch attack in its flavor text.

Strength is the objectively better move (though both are mediocre at best) and yet has been all but completely removed in favor of the move that hasn't been relevant since Generation 1.

So I ask you, or anyone: What the FUCK is GameFreak thinking? Shit makes no fucking sense. It angers me that such a little thing exists. Fuck them. This is an outrage.

Strength was learnable by a fuckton of pokes, so I doubt there's much exclusivity there.
