I disagree.
They gave the Xeno games new life with the Xenoblade games and they're arguably better than Saga and Gears. At least in terms of gameplay. I agree with the topic title but not the post

NES was a gimmick console, but the popularity of the gimmicks waned almost immediately.

Botw is literally its own genre.
Nintendo ressurected warriors franchise by cross ip. Smash also basically made its own genre. Smash is now a game that advertises other games but not at the expense of the players but rather in a fun and enthralling way. Other companies really want their characters in smash. ...
