P4Golden is the only persona game that i have played if that helps make a difference.

Definitely Royal. There's so much added content, imo the only excuse to play P5 instead of Royal is if you played it before Royal was announced.

because it feel like it takes about twice as long to get through P5 and probably more so with royal and it's not because there's "so much more" but because a lot of it just takes that much longer.

I liked Golden, but it did feel very very very long. Something twice as long sounds insane

don't do it then unless you're really starved for games in a long, long while.

the main problem is nearly everything was done with style points which makes the game beautiful for the first 10-20 hours.. after that you're gonna feel like the pacing is an absolute drag from watching the same thing over and over and over again which when combined adds up to a dozen hour or two alone.
