Guess they ran into production issues so Best Buy US didn't get as many as originally ordered so they cancelled their plans to bring it into Canada.

Sad :(

I wish the spine of the set just said "The Lord of the Rings" instead of

"The Lord of the Rings - The Motion Picture Trilogy"

Does it really have to tell us that much?

I'm more upset about hearing this thing like a decade ago, that there's actually a ton of footage they've shot for the original trilogy, so much stuff, that's never been included in any of the releases.

Like there's this shot of Sauron when he was still a good looking dude, and I remember seeing it and thinking it was maybe a scene in the past like with gollum smeagol so ended up instantly buying the blu-rays, only to find out that such a scene or image was no where to be found.

Not as far as I can tell. They all look to be excellently scored on bluray.com

Unfortunately that's what they went with in regards to the whole set so that's what's on the steelbook.

You could probably find "better" custom-made magnetic spines on Ebay.

Yeah theres another set coming out in the summer thatll have new extras.

Still ended up getting the SteelBooks though. I couldnt resist.
