Used to love farming for gear in JRPGs, Castlevania, or Diablo 2. Then I realized how much of needless padding it was and hated it.

Fell back in love with in Bloodstained. It does a really great job of motivating you to revisit areas to farm. Crafting new weapons isn't just a reskinned weapon, it comes with interesting techniques. Upgrading shards makes significant changes to the shard; it isn't just a simple damage increase. Upgrading passive shards makes them permanent when maxed out? I'm fucking in. I'm maxing all these suckers out. The more passive boosts the better. Especially when they change the appearance of your character.

It's always nice when a game encourages you to revisit areas to make you feel like a God. Areas where you struggled on so much, and were once large labyrinths due to the twisting paths, and forks in the road boil down to a small size hot wheels racecar track. In addition, figuring out the right farming spot and equipment is always pretty fun.

Overall 10/10 game. Exceptional farming/10 and exceptional boss fights and enemy variety/10. Gives me strong Diablo 2 and MapleStory nostalgia. Don't care if some items/shards are overpowered. You don't have to use them. There's tons of different viable builds.
