Anyone want to start a company and go out of our way to deny service to Christians and other religious groups?

I am sure that would go over super well and nobody would have a problem with it.

Religion is federally protected, unfortunately sexual orientation is not

Edit: had to rephrase that

Which is absurd since one chooses their religion and does not in fact choose their sexual preference.

All a gay couple has to do is say they aren't sexually active and won't be and the ruling is rendered moot....yeah

Like if the law specifically says SEXUAL orientation then there would need to be sexual evidence to deny service.

Because if that loophole works, then it leads to discrimination based on something else entirely?

How would they know if someone is gay or not? Do businesses ask these days?

For the link it talked about wedding venues but also stuff like cake places and tailors/bridal stores where some of a person's orientation would be more front and center than say a restaurant or convenience store.

That's so fucking stupid. So I can refuse to serve somebody because of who they love, but just because somebody believes in an old ass book that condones loads of horrible and disgusting things I have to serve them?

Sounds like a problem that needs to be fixed.

unfortunately sexual orientation is not

aren't there multiple rulings about "sex" based protections also inherently applying to "orientation" and "gender"?

Within the realm of the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments and corresponding state action. Not so much in the private sector at the federal level, albeit some states have adopted sexual orientation into the usual categories of protected classes/traits.
