Oh no, we'll ruin your marriage and make sure you don't get to spend any time with that kid, but there is definitely a strong bias toward promoting people who are having their first kid (no one gives a fuck if it's like your third or something).

I don't understand it entirely but there is a culture here that's built around "protecting" eachother's financial well-being, and being involved with eachother's families.
