And looking at the Steam page there's "controversy" because they changed some jokes. Does anyone know if the changes are actually bad? Because $10 for nicer graphics on an adventure game is a hard sell but it's a classic game and the devs may be worth supporting.

I dont know about the specific jokes but I do know the devs are largely from the original team that made the games that were able to buy the rights to their own work so I was planning on supporting it on that alone. The pre-release article I read did mention them doing some rewrites and recasting (Bosco, for example, was not originally voiced by a Black dude) but it sounded like they were in control.

from what i heard on waypoint, the devs were allowed to change things as they like but only on the parts they worked on originally, so i'm interested in it to see what that approach turns out.

From what I've gathered, they recast Bosco, probably because of the Simpsons/Apu "racism" thing a year ago. They also removed or altered some jokes that would be "controversial" in 2020. Topics include skinheads, militant college students, drug dealers, teen girls online, special-needs children, sex change, french sissies and ebonics, specifically the use of the word foo'

They still call them skinbodies, they just compare them to hairless cats instead of mentioning skinheads specifically.
