You can get a beast of a machine for less than $2k, about the same you would spend building one.

Is this a relatively new company?

>about the same

Well, no. The power supply, case, motherboard, cooling, fans, RAM, etc will all be of lower quality compared to the "same you would spend" DIY parts. Essentially the only top-tier branded items prebuilts use are CPU and GPU. Cases and sometimes even cooling are their own OEMs. Not to mention the workmanship is non-existent -- these are batch produced, whereas a DIY is craft-produced.

So essentially the trade-off is your time (in which would be used to craft-make something) compared to the cash you pay for the "convenience" (+risk) of a batch-produced product. Now, if you are not handy and don't want to put in the several hours across multiple weeks to research, and just want a set-it-and-forget-it gaming unit, prebuilt is probably a more economical option.

I dunno.

Still sounds pretty convenient for a powerful PC.

i took a look at their low-end PC and it's pathetically overpriced. But they're selling you a bunch of RGBLEDWTFLOL bullcrap that is highly unnecessary. Their $900 PC is literally an i3 10300 and a GTX 1650. I never did look at the high end but i assume teh value is better

also if that's USD, that's a hard pass immediately. $900 CAD ($700 USD) would even be too expensive.

They're aggressively going after, basically, console/pedestrian pc games. Their site literally won't let you advance until you select what games you want to play on it. It also told me I can run AC Odyssey at 50fps with that 10300 x 1650....maybe on ultra low 720p?

Prebuilts are a lot more competitive these days, especially right now with how hard it is to find parts in stock.

True statement in 2019 but prebuilt prices have risen with the rest of pc parts due to covid.

Yeah, a lot of youtubers were saying the cheapest computers were not worth it, but the most powerful ones were quite good and were about the same price as it would cost building it yourself, or around $100 more.

@Naysaspace Are they really "ripping" you off or just charging for the service of building the machine?

I wouldn't expect it to cost exactly what I could build my own PC for, unless you're saying the markup is absurd?

I re-read what i said twice and cant find where i said anyone is "ripping" anyone off. You literally put that in quotes -- why?

Maybe you subconsciously just think it's a "ripoff" because i said that a 10300 and a 1650 for $900 USD is really bad value.

Well, you said it was pathetically overpriced. I think in this instance those would be scare quotes he was using. But I could be wrong.

Bought a pretty nice prebuilt PC last week

For some reason the cost of parts here shot waaaay up so it was cheaper to buy than to build myself
