I liked the battle system of 13 but the story was kinda... out there. Are 13-2 and 13-3 worth playing for the story?

I had fun with 13-2 because of the pokemon aspect

13-2 is pretty good except for the stupid Pokemon Tales of Symphonia 2 shit it has going on.

LR is better.

Yes for 13-2, you can pretty much skip 13-3 it's not that good.

2 is the only not complete trash one

13-2, I actually liked less than 13. The story takes a curveball into ??? territory here, so if you didn't like 13's story you won't like this ones or Lightning Returns, most likely. I didn't think it was as strong gameplay was except for exploration, though.

I thought Lightning Returns was really fun. The story was junk, but the battle system was a lot of fun, and the side quests are the majority of the game.

So if all you're looking for is story...probably not. 13 was the peak of the series in terms of story telling. But Lightning Returns at least focuses on sidequests more and has more fun moments with Lightning and some of the other cast.

Across the FF XIII games the story-telling is fairly consistent but the game-play gets considerably better.

[ Also, Lightning doesn't crack too many smiles in the trilogy but in LR her sarcasm kills. ] xD

worth playing? definitely, though while 13 could've been a good story if it had been told better, 13-2 and LR are just complete fanfiction nonsense from the get-go

combat in 13-2 is just an improved version of 13's and LR is like a prototype of FF15 combat
