Was now forced to sleep, all I could sleep is 2 hours and I'm awake waiting til 7 to start a 13 hour shift.

Don't know your job but I would probably say fuck off to any job that tried to call me in ON a holiday when I already had the day scheduled off. I'd say I already started celebrating with alcohol or something that would make them liable for me if I showed up.

More essential jobs than hospital. They tried with my brother last night who works a prison. But he was 2 hours out and we where already in the middle of eating.

Prisons can get by short to an extent but it makes it more dangerous and inmates are understandably more moody on holidays to where a lot of OICs at mine will actually tell us to lay off them a bit on holidays.

Cops are also quite essential on holidays as crime does actually go up. Id say gas stations as people travel but gas pumps dont need human cashiers anymore.

At my job its simply you have to provide positive test results. You can be asymptomatic with + results and lay out or be dead on your feet amd not tested and still be told to come in

The guidance comes from the CDC itself since shutting health care facilities down entirely isn't really an option. Last resort, they even allow treatment of non-covid patients by health care workers who test positive seeing how bleeding to death, for example, would present a greater immediate risk than covid.

There's nothing to report. CDC guidelines allow asymptomatic carriers to continue working in healthcare facilities, preferably in areas with no public contact or in treating COVID patients, where there is no additional staffing. Closing hospitals because of COVID cases isn't practical. And again it's not their preference, but allowable in emergency circumstances.

The dirty secrets of physician training are often swept under the rug. Residents are not treated as human beings in many programs. Thank god my program has some sense of decency.

residents are the pillars that make the hospital run, without them the whole hospital pretty much shuts down, hence why reaidents are usually asked to work if they are covid positive
also, you can report literally anything to ACGME for program violations, but they will not do jack shit for you.
