I should add though that I haven't actually played the game myself. Based on what I've seen of it and heard of people I know talking about it (I have a lot of friends who really liked it) I'm pretty sure your perception of it ebing a lot of reading is correct but I don't have first-hand experience and if you want something more detailed maybe wait for someone who does --- THIS IS WHAT I HATE A BOUT EVREY WEBSITE!! Ever heard of games like 80 Days or Sunless Sea?
