I've got an uncle with stage 4 cancer and Grandma's been having mini heart attacks. This may be our last Christmas with them anyway (assuming they live that long), so maybe quit acting like coivd is the only thing killing family right now.

What would it do? Shorten their lives by 2 months at the cost of being able to have one last family memory, espeicaly Grandma that really only lives for these family moments?

I get it. People are scared of dying. Others are scared of what we're letting this virus take from us that ultimately, we're going to lose eventually anyway, so do we live in fear, or make the most of the time we have? That doesn't mean be careless, but the people you want to keep alive may not be happy if that life is stuck in an empty apartment waiting for something else to get them.

I'm glad I live in a small town. We have had less than 630 cases and only 26 people have died.

The population of our town is 15,000.

Isn't it only dangerous if someone in your family has COVID? I know when you're in public, the safe thing to do is assume everybody has it, but I don't think you should have to have the same cynicism towards your family if no one is sick or showing symptoms.

Some people seem to be under the impression that COVID will form out of thin air if two people breathe in the same room. Someone has to have it in order for it to spread first.

sure, as long as they typically obey social distancing, wear a mask, wash their hands, etc. around other people who did not consent to those risks. if they are going to do things that are unsafe and then continue to be unsafe around me or my family, fuck them.

Umm, my County has had 1842 Confirmed cases, with 17 deaths.
Those small-town numbers aren't really that good.

You can't expect people to stop living over Covid when you live in a town where .046% of residents have actually gotten sick with the virus since March.

We do well for a heavily republican area. Most people wear masks when out in public, so that has definitely helped

Look I'm all for regulations to control Covid, but it's honestly just ridiculous to expect people to not have Thanksgiving lmao. A family gathering should be more safe for you and your family than, say, the grocery store.

This country runs on consumerism. Thanksgiving and Christmas are our biggest holidays.

And more and more people will die because of it. It's okay though, as long as Walmart make their holiday targets. God bless everyone, as long they have a net worth in the 10's of millions.

Until there is a significant upheaval we just can't shut down the economy. If we were like Europe with better people focused governments, we would be okay, but we are unfortunately not.

Congress spent too much time twiddling their thumbs and pointing fingers instead of helping people. Now the periods for a lot of parts in the US have expired and some people still haven't got their job back or it was deleted. I.e, permanently closed. People are homeless now and it's bullshit.

Unless there is significant upheaval, the country can't be shut down and I say this as someone with mostly liberal values
