I was wondering if anyone here who might know what they are talking about can provide some insight? As far as I know, you cant get high off the test, nor can it make anyone sick. So, why would I go to a doctor to get a prescription for said test, when I could just get a more accurate test done?

because its mandatory to report results and its much harder to enforce that with a non-prescription distribution model.

Because they are probably limiting them to people who have reason to think they are sick. E.g.. People who came into contact with sick people etc.

Not just because you want one.
