Oh, no you're right. That makes it deep

You jumped from "you're dehumanizing women" to "you're not deep" pretty fast. That's like record time for a desperate leap in an argument. At least I know I'm not dehumanizing women, cause then you wouldn't of immediately abandoned that argument lol.

Yes. But when I'm asked or I try to do that every single day and multiple times, my brain gets bored and starts doing it's own thing. If you never want deeper conversation, I wouldn't say the problem is on my end.

Word. I don't want to imply it's only for men. They'd do it regardless. One those things where, since we are the men, we only see it being used when it could easily be perceived as being for our attention.

Mmhmm.

And I think we're "demeaning" women simply because we're looking at them in a rather cold way. But hey, like you said, give and take is fair, so here's a ready one for men: perhaps because we (again, hugely stereotyping) can be more easily cold in this way sometimes men can come across as uncaring jerks. We're not being sensitive enough is the problem, so we're "condescendingly dehumanizing them down to silly tropes".

For what it's worth LAS, I agree that women's image (to men, to other women, to the world) and self-image (and men's, too, particularly the comparison and contrast) is a very interesting subject. I've actually had a few words about it with others here and there, but it is a touchy subject. Specially if you're a man.

I can see that, I guess. I come from a family of 3 older sisters who I've always been close with and a mom that did 98% of the parenting. Which doesn't give me a pass to say whatever I want with immunity of course, but it gives me a comfortability that others might not have.

And this might also explain to some why I constantly go off on these random tantrums about how this place acts like a middle school locker room. Now if one the women were to tell me what I was saying was making them feel a kind of way, I wouldn't argue back without hearing them out completely. But that most likely wouldn't happen, because the women tend to stay away from these topics for reasons I'm sure no one here wants to discuss with me either.

I didn't even wanna get into any of this, but my intentions got questioned and it's one the only things I take serious.

Edit: What I was saying wasn't about this topic btw. My gripe lays with the "rate" topics.

Cheers, I also grew up more around women than men.

Yeah, I won't deny there's an obvious appeal to the whole subject, certainly to the situations where it might come up, I mean I am a straight guy. But the thing is this is not about the MALE point of view so it is silly to question your (or mine or anyone's) intentions when you're actually taking an interest in the point of view of women. And like you're saying, we're not even really saying anything, we're just asking the questions most people for many reasons don't care about or are uncomfortable or shy with or whatever.
