Fates was... bad. I was a big fan of Awakening, despite its shortcomings. But Fates was just a disaster. So I'm curious how Three Houses is?

I liked the gba fire emblems, and I seem to remember liking the gamecube one. the 3ds ones just left a bad taste in my mouth with all the weird bullshit stuff with the romance or the kids or whatever

In truth, Fates was more waifu simulator than RPG.

Fire emblem three houses is a game where you play a mercenary become teacher who participates in wholesome school activities like sports, tea time, saunas, butchering peasants who disagree with the church, and fishing. Along the way you can seduced your students and fellow teacher, or kill them depending on what choices you make.

Without too many spoilers, yeah. Teaching/lecturing is one of the ways to increase a character's weapon mastery (alongside the traditional "just using the weapon in battle"). The traditional weapon triangle isn't technically in the game, but it sorta is because as you gain weapon mastery, you unlock skills and abilities (the weapon triangle gets restored through skills, so sword units will get axebreaker etc.... of course, you can choose just not to equip it).

Supports are all unique and VOICED.

There's four story paths (and you don't have to buy them separately!) and New Game+ if you want to play again with some added benefits.

I liked the gameplay improvements that Three Houses brought, but found the school/prep sections brought the overall experience down. The quests in the school sections were so boring and one dimensional. I preferred Awakening over Three Houses.
