I'm out doin yard work, my dog is out with me on a harness. I hear a sound like a fuxking car coming through my garage and fence and this big blackbpitbull dragging an industrial sized chain comes out of the brush and makes a beeline for my dog, instant attack with no provocation. My dude was perked up, tail wagging thinking was a new friend.
He grabs my dog by the head and ear and I started kicking the fuck out of it. I used to be able to launch dudes across the room in TKD, no effect on this dog. I then took a weed whip to it's ass and it didnt even phase it. Start punching it, same thing. It's trying to rip my dogs face off so I grab it and my dog trying to seperate but not let the pit get leverage. I get knocked on my ass and try to put my thumbs through its eyes. I had work gloves on so it didnt work but got his attention enough to let go and back up. Comes right back at us. I'm on my back kicking it in the face but it got through and latched back on to my dog.
Theres a police station right next to my house and luckily theubheard the noise and came over. Cop was beating it with a baton and shocking it with the baton and it still wouldn't stop. Some dude came over and he was massive and just stepped on the dogs neck and it finally let go.

My dog lost half his ear, has a massive puncture in his chest, multiple punctures in his head but he will live. I got bit bad on both arms, one bite was almost an inch deep and an inch and a half wide and is bruised and swollen. Stitches. Trashy fucking neighbor comes over and has like no emotion, I got a half hearted apology. I'm going to sue the ever loving shit out of these hillbillies, and already got the OK from the sherrif to shoot any of their 3 dogs if they're on my property. I now have to carry a pistol on me any time I go outside. I dont blame the dog and I'm not mad at it. BUT I think too many people cannot control them and do not respect that they have basically a weapon. I've never felt so powerless before, and I think unfortunately it's time to ban pits. Grandfather in existing dogs since most are harmless, but ban the breed. Had that been one of my actual children, let's just say I'd be in jail right now talking to my attorney.
And I do have pics to prove I'm not trolling but that would get me nodded for gore, they're pretty bad.

How was your day CE lol

That sounds like a awful set of people in general. If you do sue them, make sure to take pictures of the damage they did to you and your dog. I know it seems silly, considering, but make sure you have pictures and evidence of all the damage. Even if it is long lasting, it'll help your case regardless. Best to do it fresh, but that isn't much an option.

In any case, the fuck is with the pitbull hate lol?

I have a pitbull that is scared of flies and plastic bags, and loves every single person he's ever met(which will be awkward if there's ever a break in, but whatver, I love the little guy).

You guys are all overreacting. Bad owners = bad animals.

Jesus fucking Christ, man.

I've grown up with many pitbulls but my family actually trained our dogs.

But with someone having such a horrible experience we shouldn't bring that into this topic. Let TC vent.

No, because people who have bad experiences spread the opinion that they're the worst. You'll always be wrong, because they don't care. Pitts are just very deadly(like all dogs their size) if you are a shit person and owner.

I mean, shit, I got bitten by a fucking Chow when I was 8. I'm not running around screaming "fuck Chows, they should be outlawed". I love Chows. But all animals can cause serious damage, so can cats. Cats are just smaller with smaller teeth/claws.

I'm glad you're relatively OK, and I hope your dog is able to shrug it off and get back to a happy life as well. I'd document everything, and take pictures of the yard and conditions the offending animal was kept in.

I do feel banning the "breed" is an over reach tho. Many dogs can fit the "pitbull" description, and I've met many that were the sweetest dogs you'll meet. I fully believe it's an owner issue.

I hope you get compensated for this, and I'm glad things didn't go worse. Best wishes TC

Pit bulls are great dogs if they are properly trained and cared for, or they're absolute monsters. I had an amazing pit bull who died last October, but I had an awful one too that bit at everything and killed himself by eating part of a tree and getting splinters in his body.

Honestly, I don't blame you for thinking that way. You're entirely right. I don't blame you for venting as you are, either. Some people are not fit for dogs. They...aren't. There is no way around that.

Good animals are born from good owners. And it's nice to know people like you(and I am sorry for the damage the dog caused in any case, it sounds awful, and I hope you get some form of compensation from this and hope those dogs are taken away from these scum) don't end up like the people that seem to think one breed is bad because...you know, bad experience.

And my dog is honestly just a durp. He's just...like, imagine a teddy bear. A stuffed animal. He's dumber than that. I've seen him walk into glass doors that he saw close.

Yet, he's smart as fuck when he wants to be. I don't understand him, but I love him. And his weird, deformed jaw.

Thank you. And to your point, my dog is a rescued bull terrier, sweetest boi I've ever had great with people, dogs, kids etc. So it's a slippery slope, which is why I prefer the grandfather clause. If my dog was banned, as long as I could keep him but no bull terriers going forward that's not the end of the world to me. Plenty of other breeds. But I agree 100%, it's the owner. Some dogs (of all breeds) also unfortunately are born biters, we had a pit that bit twice before he was 1 and had to have him put down, we couldn't fix it. Only dog we ever had a problem with. Point being, most people who get a born biter know it, and have a responsibility to do what's right. You cant fix a biting dog imo.

Spud dog.... i love those. gotta respect the opinion of others but it was either: really bad owner or an unstable dog that contributed to this (likely both of these contributed.).

i looked at more of the story, i worry about others who have to walk through the neighborhood. there's no hope for these dogs. hopefully you can sue them successfully.

This breaks my heart...my fiance's parents are staying with us for a few weeks, and her mom was the one who took him inside after they were separated and the pit was under control. She said Kate (my dog) was growling and trying to go after it, probably because he was wanting to defend us at that point

I'm armed every time I go outside now (Walther PK380 with +1 extended mag, grips and laser sight loaded with hollow points). We were on our own property when it happened, and my guy was staked out on a 20' run and full chest harness. The backyard has a pos chicken wire fence and a 3ft drop to the neighbors property behind it. Their dog was chained and must have broken free (chain was still attached) and jumped the 3 ft wall and from the sound of it went right through the fence.

Shit man.

Try Home Depot and building a bigger, stronger fence in front the chicken wire? A fence high enough should protect you or your dog. About chest length?

God, I can't imagine what I'd do in your situation.

Daw. See, you knew your dogs limitations though and and acted accordingly. you had trouble controlling him and didnt fully trust him with other animals, so he wasnt allowed to play with strange dogs. That's responsible per ownership and I have respect for that. Sorry for your loss, we lost our 15 yr old black lab last year, she fell going gup the stairs and broke her shoulder. At that age it was decided it was cruel to keep her in that much pain, she had enough trouble walking before. Shit hurts man, but we give them good lives so it's worth it :)

:(. my dog is reaching that (she's highly active) though i have to give her medication every day so she doesn't get a bad allergic reaction.

loves to get a walk every chance she gets. i'll have to bring her to the vet if she has trouble walking (too much that some pain medication cant fix).

About an hour after we got back from the vet he had to pee. Would not go passed the front door, stood there just trembling and it took me a good 5 minutes to coax him out and as soon as he was done peeing he bolted (well hobbled quickly due to drugs and pain) for the door to get back in.

And yeah, spike collar. I didnt want one because I didnt want people to think he's a mean dog, his collar has foliage on it FFS lol. But now I get that they're functional too. Damn shame.

:(. my dog is reaching that (she's highly active) though i have to give her medication every day so she doesn't get a bad allergic reaction.

loves to get a walk every chance she gets. i'll have to bring her to the vet if she has trouble walking (too much that some pain medication cant fix).

We gave her a medication specifically for arthritis and a pain med, have you tried that? It helped her tremendously, and we could at least do short walks around the block before she petered out.

Id suggest pepper spray on a keychain. Its honestly the most effective tool. Dont ever try to get between bare handed. Shit maybe grab him by his hind legs and throw his ass like a rock.

your local PD should have called animal control so that family could get a citation and notice

Sorry to hear, glad your dog is ok.

My dog (a schnauzer) is quite aggressive against any male dog that gets close to it for more than 5 seconds. There's been a couple of times when taking him for a walk that I've seen pitbulls and gotten a bit nervous. Luckily, their owners seemed to have them under control, they were all well behaved.

Messed up. I hate pit bulls but I hate their owners even more, I have zero respect for pit bull owners. Sorry you had to endure that

Shit man.

Try Home Depot and building a bigger, stronger fence in front the chicken wire? A fence high enough should protect you or your dog. About chest length?

God, I can't imagine what I'd do in your situation.

Totally. We just moved in 3 weeks ago and are doing renovations, the yard was trashed. A 5 foot high wrought iron fence was on the list of things to install, they'll be picking up that tab one way or another. I'm definitely suing, this was outrageous.

That would have ripped my dogs face off, he had his ear and face. Like I said I was trying to both keep them together to save his face and get it to let go/retreat. And a .380 hollow point>>>>>>pepper spray. I dont want to have to kill a dog, but that shit will never happen again, I'm taking zero chances. When something is killing my loved ones I'll do whatever I have to to protect them, had I been using my ripsaw today I would have used that instead of the weed whip, no hesitation.
