Just because the organism can detect and react to damage doesnt mean that it feels pain. Theres actually no reason for us to believe that they experience pain.

L. Ron Hubbard thought plants experience pain, it's in his books (Dianetics or one of his other books. He has a ton of tapes, and all those O.T. levels and sessions.)

You do not want to associate with Scientology. That's the only religion other than Sikhism and maybe Shintoism that give feelings and souls to inanimate objects and non-humanoid type creatures. In Shintoism, a rock can have kami (a soul). Kami can gather together to work out solutions to problems. It's way about my spiritual level to understand Shintoism without going to where it is practiced.

Theyre also capable of recognizing kin and will help them out by secreting nutrients through their roots. Theyll also warn other plants of danger with chemical signals.
