I haven't downloaded the dlc yet Some demons are possessed by spirits, making them a lot stronger and tougher (I feel like they are faster, too, but I'm not for sure on that). After you kill the possessed demon, you have a small window of time to kill the spirit before it possesses another demon. ~~The monster tutorial recommends using the plasma gun's microwave beam to destroy them once they are detached.
