Honestly, it's a good review.
It's what made me pick up the game.

IGN consistently reviews in ways that I agree with, tbh.

Alien Isolation was pretty mediocre imo. Definitely not a 5.9, though.

I enjoyed it in VR, however. Fucking terrifying there

I can kinda see why.

Put down your pitchforks, I loved the game

But it's way too long, and does nothing that all the other horror games weren't doing at the time

It was very standard it just used the source material so well that if you're an Alien fan you will love it. The lighting and Alien and sound was so true to the movie that it gives nostalgia boners

If you're not an alien fan then it's just a 6/10 "another one of those" that loses points for falling apart at the end

And guess what IGNs audience is? 13 year olds who probably never saw Alien and would be bored if they did

It's definitely a 7.0-7.5 game imo. A 5.9 is a pretty shocking score to give for that game.

I liked Alien Isolation quite a bit, but it does have some glaring flaws. The Alien can make certain sections pretty tedious, and it really is way too long for its own good.

Nowhere near that bad even if the final act did feel like it went on for-fucking-ever.

sort of figured they played the first hour, saw no aliens, and decided the game was broken.

I'd say about an 8.

5.9 is too low. I feel like anything below a 6 is unplayable meaning there's too many bugs and the difficulty is absurd. I feel like IGN could have given it at least a 7.

Anyway, anyone remember the last part of the game where you have to Restart the power generator with the alien stalking you? That level was tense!

This is why modern game reviews are so dumb

5 should be average, 6 should be above average
