lol, so true... but it'd be a fun throwback

Also I couldn't get past the first boss fight on Disc 4, that's when I was forced to uh... learn how to actually play the game... so this time I want to go all the way.

(the only reason I don't lump in "no items, no magic" is I'd need one of them for that fight too...)

Always appreciate the input, v_charon. Though that reminds me - in my attempt to salvage anything from today's disaster - I never forgot this one from last year...

I mean it depends how big of a boost you were looking for. I think I was picturing her pulling off a winning run, and well, yeah it didn't happen.

Though I concede apparently she got the biggest boost from the game overall so perhaps we were both right in a way.

For the record, I don't think Tifa needed the remake to do well. She's always had the potential for runs like this and I still feel with the correct circumstances, she's a potential winner. Until this year she didn't really have a main backer that was highly involved. I think the most I can think of yearly is lhg and I wouldn't consider lhg "hardcore" when it comes to this. She has a lot of people who like her as a secondary option, but usually the first options of those people do so well (Kefka comes to mind as an example) that Tifa really never gets a chance to get a real push. If you check her stats history there's a lot of middle-upper finishes for her; a sign of a character who is well liked but lacks a serious backer.

I'm not like trying to inspire you to stay and participate hardcore forever, but I mean that led to me getting married, moving to a big city and procuring a great job so SMFFFC can be good for something...

Honestly the biggest obstacle for Tifa this contest was that Squall was still in this deep

The fact that they SFF each other more than Tifa/Barret isn't as surprising as you'd think

I cant think of a character that wasnt hugely improved in the remake, but Id say Tifa was one of the three that benefited the most.

I always thought her and Aerith were pretty boring in the original without much of a personality but theyre both fantastic in remake.

I definitely agree with that too. Squall himself has been done in numerous times in a similar way. A lot of his runs into the top 10 have ended because of what else is left at that time (often it's Tidus or some other VIII character).

I'm a tummy respecter, what can I say.

But that's not even the obsession... let's just say, I think the socks added to her design is the best design change I've seen in anything, ever.

But for real, like you said, I can't see anyone "hating" Tifa (or ranking her 14/15 or 15/15 in preference rankings) if they played the remake, she is just too good. I can rationalize doing it based on OG FF7 (even if it's wrong). But in any case, hopefully more people are exposed to Remake Tifa in the following years.

Sephiroth, Aerith, Tifa, Jessie.... where am I going to fit these Cissnei saves I need to make.

In between Tifa and Sephiroth's early elims but before Jessie's.

My only two regrets were being late to two rounds, which essentially killed Lenne and Eiko.

Eiko, I mean, I guess she always goes out around that time, but Lenne deserved better. Someday I'll have to try and get her a Leblanc style run.

I used to consider myself hardcore, maybe not anymore. But I was very invested specially in that first 14th run, like there were even night rounds (and I mean, night, in Europe time) and I could get to post because I was unemployed that year.

I guess I also give up easily, I barely remember anyone else backing her that year, so it was as good as she would get, I'd say.

Now this year was very different and, I have to say, I thought she would even make it to the finals once she entered top 10. 4th is still a great achievement and am very satisfied with that!

... guess I'm an agent of chaos now!

The smart move would be to not vote Sephiroth back in next time so you can save the others imho.

Probably for that very reason, people don't have confidence in getting H2 if it's so short.

But this is the thing - because you can't trust others to have H2, you trust yourself, so you need your free save to be on H2, not H1

This is the big problem. Neither Squall savers nor Delita savers seem to want Garnet in the finals, whether due to FFIX fatigue or simply thinking the other finals option is easier to win.

In my experience, too, the character who gets shut out in trades never makes the finals. Maybe it won't matter as much this year since it's busier, but FBike and Nanis are virtually guaranteed to be some of the first savers so that's two saves Garnet is down if they don't get trades

I mean I'm keeping my trade with gravy going unless he cancels. If neither of us get here in time for h2 there's really no difference as we just swapped each other's saves. The only way to lose out is if one of you gets here early enough and the other doesn't.

Me personally, there's a West Ham match right into a Ravens game (hi lefty! suck it eagles.) so I know I'm not going to be checking every minute.

But as long as I check like every 45 minutes I'll get my vote in.

Well, this is for people with the privilage of wanting both characters to advance, or not caring enough about their main to the point they can turn down a trade offer because they hate the third character more

I don't like Squall. Not only is he my least favorite character left, he is also my least character in this contest. Hell, in the entire franchise, probably
And yet I would trade with a Squall supporter. Because I like Garnet far more than I hate Squall and I am willing to do whatever is necessary to get her to the finals, even if it means voting for a character I don't like at all
I don't care if the finals are Garnet vs Squall or Garnet vs Delita. I just want her in the finals and that's what matters the most
