ok so this is a big unorganized rant

hilariously the series peaks in the first 2 episodes, pretty great atmosphere and world-building

everything after that is an exponential trainwreck. i remember despising seasons 2 and 3 as i was watching them, now i'm positively nostalgic for that era of the show after being exposed to negan and ezekiel. the show's comic book roots start to rear their head in the ugliest ways.

this show kills people off *way* too often and *way* too senselessly. it is much more guilty of it than Game of Thrones is, and i can't even believe they get compared. Game of Thrones had an overarching plot and endgame that were present throughout the beginning, middle, and end of the show, and although many characters on that show were killed off they served a clear purpose and their deaths typically had a domino effect of some sort, and even still there were quite a few characters that made it all the way through.

Walking Dead is a meandering mess where there is no goal in sight and almost *nobody* present for the entirety of the story, characters I'm expected to care for are killed off before I can even bother to remember their name and nothing about their death seems to appreciably change the story's trajectory.

overall kinda bad show, not sure how it was so huge
